Cuddles misses his party hat, but he doesn't regret turning in early this year.
Niklas will tell Zoe the names of all of these buildings, even if he has to make them up.

  • 2014-01-26: So, Happy New Year, then. A horrible combination of work, laziness, terrible weather and Zoe's newfound love of evil have delayed updates for a bit. Sorry. Anyhoo, I expect to be back up and running here directly. Not today, of course, I've got to ease out of this lazy bit, but still.

School's already been cancelled for tomorrow, so Niklas is looking forward to that. "I'm either going to play video games all day or watch TV all day. Maybe some of each." Meanwhile, Andrya and I had to wrestle Zoe (quite literally) into her overnight pull-ups.
    2014-01-28:
Well, CPS ended up cancelling school yesterday, too, due to the fact that it was murder-cold. In what must be a Late January Miracle, Zoe and Niklas got along pretty ok over two days of being cooped up in the house. We played a bunch of games (board, video, card and otherwise), built some stuff out of tinker-toys and climbed the stairs in the hall repeatedly to burn off excess energy. (Fun fact: we climbed from the door to the roof four times which would have been enough to climb the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse in Bermuda almost one and a half times.) Also, I made Niklas do a bunch of math problems because he's only been to school for a day and half (rough estimate) this year. Anyway, both kids were awesome, so that was nice.

Today, Zoe and I celebrated the fact that one could go outside without dying by going to the gym so Zoe could run about and paint and whatnot while I cursed the man who invented the treadmill. After that, we had lunch at Uncle Julio's which remains Zoe's favorite restaurant despite its staggering mediocrity.

Niklas got his report card today:
